07 Mar Zeppole e Panzarotti
A zeppola (plural zeppole) is a pastry consisting of a deep-fried dough ball.
A panzarotto (plural panzerotti) is a savory dish which is made from mashed potato and eggs, then covered in bread crumbs and deep fried.
You can open the zeppola with your hands into two parts (paying attention as it is hot) and fill it with one panzarotto (like a sandwich).
Close the two parts and enjoy it, as Neapolitans do.
Otherwise, before frying your zeppola, ask the seller to put one panzarotto inside and cook it all together.
Try both options: even if there are the same ingredients, the taste is completely different.
We suggest you try both, but in our view, the first option is the best!
There is a van that sells zeppole, panzarotti and other specialties 50 meters away from our entrance gate (in summer you will find it from 6 p.m., until 12 a.m.).
You will spend no more than 2/3 euros per person.
Tips
At home we try to prepare the same Zeppole and Panzarotti. Unfortunately they are not the same: taste and texture are different.
Home cookers try to understand their secrets: ingredients, timing for yeasts, temperature, what else! Home cookers go for buying and start the game.. small questions from home cooker to try to steal the “secret”, not full answers from the seller.. one day more is over and the “secret” is not discovered.
The game continues from both sides…..if you are lucky you can watch this “strange conversation”.
Ask yourself for the secret and if you steal it, please share it with us; if it works we will give you for free a full day stay in our Villa Belvedere.
You are lucky to be with us, as you are in the middle of the typical Street Food of this area. Let’s go on this trip together discovering much more.
